Step by Step Guide:
This is an easy project that anyone can do (if you have a little skills with tools) and anyone can sell at craft fairs, on Etsy, Amazon handmade, or other similar places. This project requires a basic set of tools and a very limited amount of resources to make. In preparation of making these I ordered the metal bottle opener and magnets off of amazon and had them shipped to my house. If you plan on making these in large quantities you can source the bottle openers and magnets from other places in bulk and will probably get a better per piece price. The pallet wood and tools I already had on hand in my workshop.
I spend the summer collecting and curating my collection of pallet wood so I have an ample supply whenever I need some for a project. If you need a guide on getting pallet wood and how to take it apart to get it home you can find my guides Here and Here.
Once you have the board that you want to make the bottle opener out, it’s time to mark it up and cut it out to size.
For this project I made them 11 inches long. Take your tape measure and square and draw a straight line across the board, and another one 11 inches further down. The beauty of making this out of a piece of pallet wood is that you can select what ever part of the wood you want to use, giving the piece at little or as much character as the board has to offer. Once you have the piece you want to use cut it out.
Next task is to drill all the holes need in the board. Measurements are below:
